Smart Aquaculture workshop at Red Hat Summit 2025
This course will become available for participants at the Red Hat Summit 2025 in Boston, Massachussetts, USA Tuesday May 20, 2025 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM EDT.
- Dewayne Branch, CEO, Founder, Qatar Strategic Business Group
- Jarvis Green, Founder, Green Reef Foundation
- Christopher Tate, Principal Software Engineer, Red Hat
What is the Smart Aquaculture workshop at Red Hat Summit?
In this hands-on lab, we’ll develop a new smart aquaculture web platform with data models. You'll learn fine-grained access control with the Red Hat Build of Keycloak. You'll build FIWARE Smart Data Models for Smart Aquaculture with generative artificial intelligence (AI) in a Red Hat OpenShift AI Visual Studio Code (VSCode) Java workbench. With this platform, we’ll visualize fish and population data to help mitigate food insecurity.
The Smart Aquaculture project—a collaboration between Green Reef Foundation, Oceans 97, and Qatar Strategic Business Group—supports food processing in developing nations through workforce training with academic and industry partners using innovative digital twins, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAVs), and autonomous aerial vehicles (AAVs). Arise Fish and Seafood Process and the Green Reef Foundation combine high-fidelity simulations with digital culture preservation and training on open source edge computing to support these digital twins.
Join us to learn more about:
- Intelligent application programming interface (API) and dashboard code generation with the Computate platform.
- Smart device registration with FIWARE microservices.
- Event-driven subscriptions to smart device data changes.
- Granular data access control between edge and cloud with Red Hat build of Keycloak.
- Custom Leaflet dashboards for visualizing live GeoJSON data on maps.
Use the latest cloud deployment tools like Jupyter, Ansible, Helm, and OpenShift command line interface from your browser, and start deploying microservices to the cloud like a modern cloud developer.
Deploy modern open source microservices including Apache Zookeeper cluster manager, Apache Solr search engine, PostgreSQL relational database, MongoDB No-SQL database, RabbitMQ message broker, Keycloak single sign-on authentication and authorization, and reactive—event bus driven applications.
Set up access to a new database for your applications.
Create authentication realms, clients, OAuth identity providers, and fine-grain resources, scopes, policies, and permissions to data and dashboards.
Connect your databases and message broker to a FIWARE Context Broker — utilize NGSI-LD standards and Smart Data Models to manage your own smart device data.
Learn how to configure secrets in the cloud that allow applications to connect to each other securely.
Learn how to configure and deploy a custom data-driven website for Smart Aquaculture with smart data models so that you can do it yourself.
